The K2022 is the world's number 1 trade fair for the plastics and rubber industry. It took place in Düsseldorf, Germany, on October 8-15 and our project, Agro2Circular, was there.
With more than 3,000 exhibitors, K2022 is the place to be to learn what’s new in the plastics industry. Moreover, the science campus and the circular economy forum, held at the same time, make this fair a unique opportunity to establish suitable contacts for those interested in the solutions developed in projects such as Agro2Circular. In fact, one of the aims of our project is to provide an economic and environmentally sustainable value chain for the upcycling of multilayer plastic films into high added value products.
Alejandro Arribas and Blasi Martínez are two CETEC technicians and represented Agro2Circular at the fair. They attended K2022 to learn about new technological developments in biodegradable polymers and recycled polyolefin, and to know more about raw materials, and processing and laboratory machinery. This newly acquired knowledge will be used to further develop the methodology of our project.
Other than learning from others, out partners from CETEC had the chance to show Agro2Circular to a wide audience of possible stakeholders. They contacted producers of bio-based and biodegradable materials, as well as manufacturers of plastic processing machinery and also manufacturers of laboratory and pilot plant machinery. Most of these groups were interested in the solutions offered by Agro2Circular.
On the other hand, possible solutions were found to technical problems encountered in the development of the projects, such as the exhaustive decontamination of recycled polyolefins for their use authorized by EFSA- European Food Safety Authority as food-grade plastic.
K2022 trade fair was a successful event for Agro2Circular that gained visibility, and received and shared knowledge about multilayer plastic upcycling.
