Innovation Forum 4 Plastics

In 2018 and the European Commission adopted the European Strategy for Plastics in a Circular Economy taking into account that our society, economy, and environment are all negatively affected by the way plastics are currently designed, produced, used, and discarded. Innovation for plastics forum is a clustering event bringing together projects with all the circular economy actors involved in plastic production, use, and recycling.

Innovation for plastics forum is a clustering event bringing together projects with all the circular economy actors involved in plastic production, use, and recycling.

Innovation Forum is an ongoing clustering initiative. The forum aims to offer a space where different people involved in innovation European projects can meet, talk about their projects and create new synergies.

The fourth edition of the project is taking place in Brussels on the 15th of March 2023. Is it possible to register to attend the forum online.

The topic of the forum will be plastic and innovative solutions for plastic packaging recyclability, and the agenda presents several thematic sessions. During these sessions, selected projects will explain their strategies and innovative solutions to mitigate the negative impact on society, the environment, and the health of the currently designed plastic.

Agro2Circular is an EU-funded project that aims to drive the change in the agrifood industry from a linear to a circular economic model. To be effective, this change should embrace all the processes of the agrifood- industry, from fruit and vegetable waste to food packaging and multilayer plastic films, to agri-food sector digitization.

During the thematic session dedicated to Bioprocesses and Biobased Materials Sector, Agro2Circular project coordinator Fuensanta Monzó Sánchez will present the progress and innovation on food packaging proposed by the project. The chair of the session is Cristiano Varrone, Associate Professor, Ph.D., Department of Chemistry and Bio-Science, Aalborg University.

Other projects in the bioprocesses and biobased material thematic session are ECOPLASTICS, upPET-T, UPLIFT, GLAUKOS, and PRESERVE.

Events like the innovation forum for plastics are crucial to establishing collaborations and guaranteeing the information flow between the differen projects that work on the issue of plastic pollution and recyclability.

Follow Agro2Circular to stay updated on the most recent innovation in food packaging and multilayer plastics. Let’s work together for a more sustainable future.
